Quoted hereunder, for your information, is a resolution of this Court dated FEB 23 2004.
G.R. No. 147238-40 (People of the Philippines vs. Maximo Javier.)
Considering the eighth and ninth motions for extension of time
totaling twenty (20) days from December 8, 2004, or until December 30, 2003,
within which to file compliance to the show cause Resolution of September 10,
2003 and reply brief, filed by Atty. Salvador B. Britanico, counsel for
accused-appellant, and it appearing that as of December 30, 2003, Atty.
Britanico has not filed the required compliance and reply brief per report
dated February 19, 2004 of the Division Clerk of Court, indicating an apparent
trivialization of this Court’s processes, the Court Resolves to IMPOSE
ANOTHER FINE of FOUR THOUSAND PESOS (P4,000.00) upon
Atty. Salvador B. Britanico in addition to the fines of One Thousand Pesos (P1,000.00)
and Two Thousand Pesos (P2,000.00) previously imposed in the Resolutions
of January 12, 2004 and February 18, 2004, respectively, all payable within ten
(10) days from notice. Atty. Britanico is WARNED that if the
fines are not paid within the period provided herein, he shall be ordered
arrested and detained until he complies with the directives of the Court.
